WATCH: "Treat Your Man a Little Bit Better"

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 24, 2018) – Neotraditionalist James Carothers has released the latest single, “Treat Your Man A Little Bit Better,” from his upcoming album Still Country, Still King: A Tribute To George Jones. An acoustic performance of the single was exclusively premiered by Parade.com yesterday. The single is available for streaming and download, and the album is available for preorder here.

“I picked this song because my good friend showed me an old video of George live in Louisiana, I think the year was 1981. In my opinion, it’s the coolest live performance of GJ out there and this was my favorite song in the whole performance,” Carothers said. “I like this song because it has a man’s perspective that’s a little less ‘run of the mill’ than most songs.”

“With a lively stripped down arrangement showcasing an imploring message and some mighty fine guitar and fiddle chops, the song is a great take on this feisty country classic.” – Laura B. Whitmore, Parade.com

Country Rebel debuted Carothers’ acoustic version of The Possum’s “What Am I Doing There?” yesterday as well.

Earlier this summer James released two singles from his upcoming album, “Sinners and Saints” and “Someday My Day Will Come.” His new album drops September 7. Keep up with James on FacebookTwitterInstagram and YouTube, and on his website at www.jamescarothers.com.

About James Carothers
Mixing together Tennessee twang and southern storytelling, James Carothers makes throwback country music for modern times. His first full-length album, Relapse, released in May 2017, bears similarities to classic releases by George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Carothers wrote most of the songs between daily gigs at The George Jones in Nashville. Since its opening in 2015, he’s performed hundreds of shows at the venue. George Jones’ own widow, Nancy, personally hired Carothers for the gig, giving him the opportunity to make a living playing music. James now plays several shows at venues in downtown Nashville each week when he’s not on the road. In 2018, James was nominated for an Ameripolitan Award in the “Outlaw Male” category. His hit song “Back to Hank” has received over four million views on Facebook and his Spotify and Apple Music artist profiles have been streamed over one million times combined. This September, James will be releasing his newest album, Still Country, Still King: A Tribute to George Jones. James will also be making his Grand Ole Opry debut this year.
